Now retired from active clinical practice, Dr. Baliga remains a respected and influential figure in the medical community, remembered for his clinical acumen, ethical practice, and unwavering commitment to patient care.
Early Life & Education
Dr. Baliga completed his schooling in the South Canara district in 1962. He pursued his Pre-University education at St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, where his passion for medicine began to take firm shape.
Encouraged by his father, Mr. Pundalik Baliga, and his uncle, Dr. C.R. Kamath, he joined Kasturba Medical College in 1966. He went on to complete his MD in 1976 from the same esteemed institution, laying the foundation for a career marked by excellence and integrity.
International Training & Academic Contributions
Driven by a desire to expand his expertise in Medicine and Cardiology, Dr. Baliga began his academic career as an Assistant Professor in Manipal. Soon after, he moved to the United Kingdom to pursue advanced training.
Between 1977 and 1984, he worked across several hospitals in the UK, gaining extensive exposure to both invasive and non-invasive cardiology. During this period, he earned the prestigious Royal Colleges of Physicians Membership (MRCP), further strengthening his clinical credentials.
His years in the UK significantly enriched his experience in:
- Clinical cardiology
- Advanced cardiac diagnostics
- Risk factor management
- Internal medicine
Following his tenure in the United Kingdom, Dr. Baliga served in Saudi Arabia before returning permanently to Bangalore, where he continued to practice and serve patients full time for many years.
